First rain of the year
Hello steemians, I hope everyone is doing great? Happy new year to everyone! Let's welcome ourselves to 2019.
Have you all noticed that this January is not at all like all Januarys which are usually slow? Januarys before this had like 90days but this one is really fast. Just yesterday it was the 1st and today it's the 15th?...wow!
Moving on about firsts, it actually rained for the first time this year💃💃💃.
Though it was light showers. Light enough to wet the rooftops and ground. It was amazing. Since it was at noon, the skies first became gloomy as the sun went into hiding. No one expected any drop of rain, but then down it came upon our rooftops.
I was glad it rained. I thought the rain would alleviate the heat a little but no, it even became hotter when it stopped raining. But there's a good side to it though. We in Nigeria believe that since it has rained now, the next set of African star apples (known to as agbalumo) to be harvested will be as sweet as honey and sugar combined. That would be our consolation for the heat.
We are still waiting for the heavy downpour that would rid us of the dusts and scorching sun of the harmattan season but for now, let us enjoy our agbalumo😂
