DEFINITION OF NETWORK
Network maybe defined as the combination of lines and nodes.Lines refers to the path along which makes resources flow. Nodes means the point where lines intersect transfering resources to new line.
CONCEPT OF NETWORK
The network(network links)between nodes are established using cables,media or wireless media. Nodes can include personal computer, phone,as well as computer networking hardware.

TYPES OF NETWORK
1.PAN(personal Area network): A personal area network is a communication network use for communicating among computers and different information technologies close to one person e.g personal computer, printer,video game,telephone,scanner etc
2.LAN(Local Area Network):Is a network that connect computer devices in a limited geographical area such as home, school, offices,building or closely position,group of building.
3.HAN(Home Area Network):Is a residential. It is used for communication between the digital device,usually used in a home by a small number of personal computer e.g printer and mobile computing devices.
4.SAN(storage Area Network):Is a dedicated network that provide access to consolidated block level data storage.SAN are primary use to make storage device,such desk arrays,tape libraries,and optical juke boxes,accessible to savers.
5.CAN(campus Area Network):This is made up of interconnection of LAN within a geographical area.for example a University campus network is likely to link variety of campus buildings or connect academic college or department,library and student resident halls.
6.MAN(metropolitan Area Network):Is a large computer that usually span a city or a larger campus.
7.EPN(Enterprise private Network):An enterprise private network is a network that a single organization build to interconnect it office location e.g production sites,head offices,shopes.
8.VPN(Virtual private Network): This Network is an overlay network in which some of the links between nodes are carried by open connection or virtual circuit in some large network e.g the internet in state of physical wire.
9.CAN(Global Area Network):Is a network use for supporting mobile across an arbitrary numbers of wireless satelite coverage aeea.
10.WAN(Wide Area Network): Is a computer network that covers a wide geographical area such as city,country or spans even intercontinental distances,a WAN using a communication channels that combine many links, cables,abd sir waves. A WAN often make use of transmission facilities provided by common carriers such as telephone companies.

CONCLUSION
Earlier we understood that, Internet is a global system of interconnection computer networks that uses the standard internet protocol(TCP/IP) to link several millions of devices worldwide.It can also be concluded that,it is a group of two or more networks that are:
1.physical interconnection
2.Capable of communicating and sharing
data with each other.
3.Able to act as a single network.
