Nest Hello

What a pain in the arse.

So all would be well if everyone lived in the USA and we all purchased the same door bell systems.

Unfortunatly for other places like the UK we don't.

So the US use 110v ac for thier mains feed and about 20% of the country have 16vac to 24vac door bells. Those who havent can get a new transformer.

The uk has a standard of 8vac. Way under the 16vac minimum required.
Now the uk door bells can take 16vac but no more and the nest door bell can operate bettween 16vac and 24vac. So problem solved?? Just get a 16vac transformer that runs on 230v mains.

HELL NO. they do not exist if you want to make it in the slightest bit profetional and neat.

However I may have found a solution.

Using this.

This is a multi voltage transformer AC (alternating current) very important as DC will not work.

Plus this.

This is a 24vac reley.

Now all I do is power the nest hello with the 24vac side. Using the white converter provided, I connect this to thw coil side of the relay. This will switch it on when the button is pressed and give the camara enough power to turn on.

Then using the 12vac supply from the same transformer I run this through the switched sidw of the relay. This then sounds the bell using the correct voltage.

All this because they couldn'tbe bothered to provide a conversion kit.

I am surprised that company didn't manufacutre UK-compliant sets. 😲 It is common knowledge that UK has a different voltage system than US! You may have figured this out, but what about the common man?
