Skipper's third day.

in #neoxian4 years ago

He really wants to listen and learn.

Today the third day of Skipper in our pack. And what strikes me today is that it is a dog who wants to listen, who wants to learn, but who also does not always accept the limits set by the ladies.

He is trying to do his best.

Now it's not easy for him, because Myla doesn't allow him much. And Lana sometimes likes him very much, and sometimes not at all. And that makes it very difficult. Lana is not clear in what she wants, so she does not set her limits clearly. Where Skipper clearly has respect for Myla, he has absolutely no respect for Lana.

Sometimes a conflict situation.

So that sometimes also leads to a conflict situation in which I have to intervene rather hard to steer the 3 musketeers in the right direction.

Generally we see a lot of progress.

But in spite of this kind of opposition, we generally see a lot of progress with Skipper. He can now lie next to Myla himself, he can lie next to Lana without any problems and there is generally much less grumbling and snarling at him by the ladies. He seems to be adapting as the best. Which is perhaps not so surprising, he is still a young tolerant dog, and we really want to keep it that way.

He really is a young Kangaroo.

I now also understand very well where his nickname Kangaroo comes from. He jumps up and down like a mad joker when we go hiking. That is nice, he is certainly very enthusiastic, but also a point that definitely needs to be worked on. There is a time for serious walking to be let out, and a time to play together. Skipper still has to learn that ...

Many new impressions today.

Today he has gained many new impressions. When I started vacuuming, I immediately noticed that he started barking, and that's something I don't want ... Not another barker in the house. So I immediately grabbed some treats for him and let him do small exercises for about 10 minutes while the vacuum cleaner was roaring, I then placed the treats next to the vacuum cleaner so that he had to take them away, and that the vacuum cleaner became a normal thing. Then it was time to rest for everyone because doing things together with the three of them is still very exciting. Fortunately 90% of the time it goes well, but it sure is very exciting for the dogs and that is why you have to build in a lot of rest with a new dog especially in such a first period. And because Skipper is still young, rest is also very important for him.

After resting, let's play.

After his rest it was time to be let out and play again, and something new again. He had already seen the yard on Sunday. But then didn't really get to know it as his new garden of course. He had been there yesterday when I was outside, but it wasn't that long either. Today I let him get acquainted and browse everywhere on the line. He found it all very exciting and very nice. And then we made a start learning what "NO" means. And he was allowed to do a brain game with kibbles. The smart guy realized this very quickly and he also enjoyed it very much. With his nose, legs and teeth, he worked very hard to get his kibble. Although I slowed him down gently if he wanted to bite the slider open with his teeth. That is not the intention. The legs and nose are allowed, but not the teeth. This did not take long for him to realize and it shows how eager to learn.

A young guy who wants to learn and is smart enough to learn. It is again very intensive, but also very nice to be busy with a young dog again.

The enthusiasm of the dog and the inquisitiveness makes it very nice again. Of course older dogs are also always fun, but the learning phase, and the very intensive activity you have done. However, the bond that you have is much stronger, because of the many intensive activities together. That is what we can now build with Skipper. And the best thing of all is that we really do it together this time.

I raised Rowan and Myla alone. Lex and Lana were mainly raised by my partner ... but Skipper is therefore the first young dog that we really raise together. And that makes it much nicer. Although during the day during the day I am mainly alone with the three musketeers, it does not feel heavy because I know that we will do it together. Because as soon as my partner comes home he immediately takes over part of it and in the weekends we also do it together. That has always been different with Rowan, Myla, Lex and Lana. Wonderful to experience this and to feel it. And good for Skipper that he came our way.

Myla, Lana and Skipper wish you all a nice evening, night and see you tomorrow!

Paws of all.

Glad to know that your young dog is really smart and quick learner, but the most amazing thing that both of you (and your partner) can work together to raise him and make your relationship stronger too.

My wife and I raising 2 cats, but none of the cats really stay at home unless it's time to eat😅 and one of the cat only listen to my wife😅
