My guess:
The issue causing the loss of assets has probably been fixed.
No one is willing to admit to where the problem was, because of the value of lost assets.
I have been conferring with others who have suffered loss due to this fluke.
I did "not" do any of the steps to set up a passphrase. Others say the same.
As I study this; ...the symptoms are just like there is a "passphrase" wallet just waiting for us to access.
Am I too far outside the box, for this to be possible?
With my limited experience, I know not, how to test or search this kind of theory.
I would like to hear Ledger has looked into this kind of possibility.
Does the CityOfZion community, have specialist in the Ledger security settings, willing to consider this?
Is this a matter of; Who pays for the research?
...I have 108 Neo, to donate to the community, as a reward fund, when the solution is found.
Tell me what more I can do to keep the community involved in finding the solution.
Others have suffered also. While painful, I will be fine.
Just has to be worth someone's time. Neo should be all over this.

I have read that over 3000 Neo has been lost to this "undocumented feature"

Iam also having same isssue. hi so i created my wallet on version 0.0.6 and have the private key and encrypted key written down. i also had it save to my wallet on my laptop but my laptop did an update and has forgotten my wallet on the neon wallet. my private key and encrypted key only work on version 0.0.6 but do not show my balance is there anyway i can get my computer to remember these files so i can access my wallet in a later versions? as my private key and encrypted key are not valid on later version as i don't think the are long enough. if any one can help me fix this would be much help and appreciated
@sarah.taylor Hi sorry to hear about your issue. This is the one part about cryptocurrency that I think we can all agree that we hate it soon as you lose your private key or password you're pretty much up a creek without a paddle I don't know if you can recover those but what I was going to tell you is it as long as you still have the hard drive you might be able to go to like a data recovery company yes it's expensive but they might be able to get it for you I don't know how much Neo you have in there though so it could be up to you

that explains a lot.. it's hilarious to read though. pretty smart idea if you think about it.. make a bunch of bots and spam on steemit all day for $. mind=blown..
