Needlework Monday: tissue box cover cross-stitch
Hey, I actually have been crafting this week and can do a post! It's amazing! LOL
My mom asked me to make her some kind of hard cover for the tissue box she keeps in her car, because it always gets crushed and ripped open. So I am making her one with plastic mesh and cross-stitch!
On day one, I completed one of the sides - I am doing a forest design that I am just winging it as I go. I stitch dangerously. ;)
This is as far as I am now - the top is actually taking longer even though it's a smaller space, I think, because I am making x's and squares in each four hole space (whereas in the main design I really only passed through most holes once, occasionally twice).
So I'll keep stitching while watching YouTube videos and we'll see how far I get! :)
I'm looking forward to reading all of your posts - but my VP is low so I need to let it recharge a bit. Happy #needleworkmonday!
That minnow your mama always warned you about

Aww! That's super cool. I love it. 💜
Thank you! :)
Wonderful idea.... we always forget to put anything tissue-like into the car and as I have hay fever the whole year round, this is not clever. Your project will be cute and helpful. But I have no idea how you could wing embroidery... (and have it look like actual trees)? I am amazed.
And it is so nice to have a bit of look at your room :-D I discovered a very practical and cool shelf for the yarn rolls (no idea how the real name is in English) Mine are completely tangled in a box. I would like your shelf :-DDDDD
Oh, the thread rack? Yeah, I love it and recommend them! I didn't have one for most of my life and after seeing my grandmother's decided I wanted one. It's so much nicer and organized. No more tangled threads or digging through a drawer to find a color!
Crafblogs are my favorite to , killing two birds with one stone 😉
I used to have this problem too, @phoenixwren :
Besides the crushing it used to get 'muddy'... So is this your own pattern ? I'm very curious to see how it turns out :D
Yeah, I'm totally making up the pattern as I go! :D
A sturdy box cover is a really good idea for the car tissues. How will the box get in and out of the cover (or is it too early to ask that)?
Great to see you posting in needleworkmonday (haha, predictive text has learned needleworkmonday)!
I'm planning on making one of the panels hinge with a button and loop closure. :D
Also, haha good predictive text!
A Steem logo would be tight!
LOL it's for my mom, though! I have been contemplating how I want to do a Steem logo for things for me, though. I have been collecting patches to go on my bag so I was thinking I would embroider one for that. I also made a button in my Zazzle shop with the Steem logo but I need money to order any, lol. Zazzle shipping does not scale down for just ordering one or two small buttons, they charge like they are sending a box, so it costs way more than it should if you are just ordering one small thing. I want to use them for contest giveaways too so I will wait until I can order a bigger number at once.
I know I hate how you cant just order a small amount of something like that. I want to get canna curate hoodies, but i have to order at least 60! How much is it for the buttons?
Woah, 60 is crazy! You can order however many you want on Zazzle, but in this case if you do that with something as small as a button it's just that the shipping is worth many times more. So normally it's $3.00 I think per button, but discounts with 10+, as I recall. But the day I made them it was cyber week 75% off - which made the button around 75 cents, but the shipping was like $7. So I wasn't going to spend $7.75 for one button. With a shirt it's more logical because a shirt is going to cost at least that to ship no matter what, so you might want to order your hoodies there!
