Rebirth of a Secret Santa gift
Meine Schwester veranstaltet mit ein paar Quilter-Freundinnen jedes Jahr eine Wichtelaktion. Dieses Mal waren im Paket selbstgestrickte Socken - eigentlich ein Grund für Jubel, wenn sie nicht einerseits zu groß und dann noch viel zu lang gewesen wären. Also gibt es noch ein nachträgliches Weihnachtsgeschenk von mir: Die Dinger werden aufgeribbelt und neu gestrickt.
My sister and her quilting friends organize a Secret Santa each year. My sister got a pair of hand knit socks - yay! But they were too large and much too long. So my belated Christmas gift for her will be unraveling the socks and making them anew :)
Eher Kniestrümpfe als Socken - ich denke, ich kann drei Socken aus diesem Paar machen! Aber die Farbe ist schön und das Garn ist angenehm weich. Hoffen wir, dass das Aufribbeln problemlos verläuft!
Nearly knee-high - I think I can make three socks out of the two of them! But the colors are nice and the yarn is soft. Let's hope that the unraveling will go smoothly.
Norwegian Socks
Bevor die "Recyclingsocken" oben kamen, wollte ich eigentlich gerade ein anderes Paar Socken starten. Aus 6fach Sockengarn von Regia, dessen Farben an Norwegermuster erinnern sollen - benannt wurde diese Version nach dem Örtchen Rosendal. Ich bin gespannt, wie das Garn gestrickt aussehen wird - Arbeitstitel bisher ist "Beeren mit Schlagsahne", daran erinnern mich nämlich die Farben :)
Before the above mentioned socks project came, I was going to start a pair of "couch socks" made from DK-weight yarn - Regia 6-ply. It's in a self-patterning yarn reminding of Norwegian knitting patterns. The name of the colorway is Rosendal after a village in Norway. I'm looking forward to seeing how exactly the colors will look like in a sock. So far my name for the project is "Berries & Cream" :)
