Knitting with Leftovers

in #needleworkmonday5 years ago

One for the boy and one for the girl!

There are hours in wintertime when you are happy to stay inside the house and enjoy what you can call home and many people on earth really would like to have. Time for a cuppa and a look at your leftover yarns. Hopefully, some knitting ideas pop up, the different colours and textures of the wool get you inspired until you finally get the right needles in your hands... and the adventure begins.

As I usually work without a fixed plan or knitting pattern my work can be sometimes a bit chaotic, means I have to undo the first rows or I am changing the form. But in the end, faster than expected, my work progresses and comes to a happy end with just enough yarn on hand to do the last bit of it.

I know you can buy knitted hats everywhere, however, these handmade ones are very much appreciated and hold dear for they are made not only with wool but love.

Thanks for popping by and voting. Have a nice day!

Hello @johano! Welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday!! 😃 I’m so glad you decided to share with us this week, it’s great to have you!

I love the mixture of colors you put together using your leftover yarn! There are times when I “almost” toss old yarn (I mean really old yarn that I’ve had forever) but I always decide to hang on to it. I’m glad I have because something always comes up to where I need those particular ones. You just never know what you might make. If you come short on a project it’s always good to have those leftover options to help fill in when needed.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We are a supportive community that encourages interaction and motivation. We also encourage sharing the process of your work. No need to wait until a project is completed to post it! It’s fun seeing needlework come to life!

Welcome once again :)

Thanks for your warm welcome. As I am a more sporadic knitter I will not contribute so much however, I will get inspired by all the fine knitters of the community. Have a beautiful day.

You’re very welcome. 😊

I totally understand. Thanks so much! You have a wonderful week ~

The love and care seeping into things during the knitting multiplies the warming factor ;)

And I love using up leftovers, I just finished a pair of socks using scraps.

So true! Thanks for your comment!

I like your basket of leftovers :)

I agree with you @johano that a knitted cap, which you knitted yourself, is so much more special than something you've bought from the shop.
You must be very good at calculating how much yarn you need for a particular item, I'd be constantly worried I wouldn't have enough yarn to finish an item if i worked with leftovers...

Right. You see the girls hat. I used three different yarns, two of them together but in the end all blend quite nicely, I think. Sometimes it works like magic, sometimes not at all. But somehow this needlework calms me down. Thanks for your comment.

I suppose it's a matter or trial and error, like most things in life ...:DD
I think if more people were involved in needlework, the world would be a much calmer place :DDD It certainly calms me down too!

They do not looks like made with a leftovers... they're pretty great combined...
Thank you for share Happy needle work week!

Thank you! It was fun.

Nice to meet you. ^^~ You made good use of leftovers. Good job!

You are so talented to make the beautiful hats with leftover yarn. I must dive in my leftover yarn boxes once to get inspiration ;)

Thanks for your kind words. Talented is something different, but I am glad you found some inspiration.
