NeedleworkMonday 3-26-18- one mitten done!
The Mitten is done! Yes I still have to do a second one but it's not going to get started this trip. I didn't bring the other skein of yarn to start the second one with. Instead I'm going to start another hat with larger needles so my hands can take a break from the TINY needles that the Mitten was made with.

I'm digging into my emergency yarn stash, meaning I didn't actually plan on using that yarn this trip unless I absolutely had to because I had planned on going shopping at a local yarn store and picking up something locally made or fun to work with. But I always throw one spare ball of hat yarn in my bag just in case I run out of yarn while on a plane or not anywhere near a store.
Unfortunately some time last Wednesday my personal credit card got hacked and somebody bought a bunch of stuff at Newegg with it. So where I had originally planned on being able to go to a yarn store and pick up something fun, I can't do that this trip now. But the new card is on its way and a fraud alert has been put in place and everything worked out. But it's been a total pain in the ass.
Over the weekend I drove from Michigan to the Chicago region by way of Indiana Dunes State Park and got a neat picture of the city of Chicago from the park.
It was very cold and windy so I didn't stay long at the park just long enough to get a few geocaches. My favorite one was:

This week I'm in Chicago, where there are some pretty awesome yarn stores I'm not going to be going shopping at. I met a couple friends for dinner over the weekend and went to an amazing German restaurant which was very over-decorated in kitschy and awesome. Unfortunately I had left my phone charging in my rental car so I don't have any pictures of this awesome place.
I'll be heading home sometime on Friday evening and then back onto the road Monday morning, going to Wisconsin for a week.
Ooooo! as it is insulting! our friends also had the same thing with a cash card. I hope this trouble will not overshadow your trip. I like your mitten. I always had such mittens with a hood when we lived in Ukraine. this park is beautiful. sorry it was cold
So far the only issue I'm having is I can't do any personal purchases. My company card is still working so I'm covered that way for food and hotels and fuel. But being able to buy a book or some yarn is always a nice splurge when I'm on the road.
Today is slightly warmer but overcast, it rained a little bit last night. Depending on what the Parks look like when I get to my next hotel, I might have to go take a walk this evening just to get away from work.

I was sad to read about your credit card being hacked and hope you get that sorted soon.
One thing that caught my eye was that yarn of Araucanía wool... As I'm originally from Chile it always makes me happy to see reference to that part of the world where the rest of my family are :) I also wonder what type of hat you will make with it and what the yarn feels like - I bought some samples of Chilean wool not so long ago and they were extremely expensive !!
The Araucania is SO soft. It is a blend of types of yarn, with a little silk in it. I think I found it on sale somewhere and couldnt resist the color or feel.

Congrats @jamethiel on completing the mitten! I haven't tried knitting mittens yet.. They do look daunting :sweat: I hope to try one in the near future. Sorry about your credit card. I had mine hacked before and it is quite a hassle to get them reported and replaced with new ones. And scary too, to know that it is so easy to get hacked.
If you start with a few wrist warmers and work your way through them, Mittens are not as scary!

Oh no... no money and a yarn shop, this is a horrifying combination. I am happy this credit card crime could be stopped - I would probably have panicked. I hope the rest of this trip (are you still on this work assignment?) will be more peaceful. I think travelling for work is generally exhausting (without theft)
But back to your mitten(s). Yeah, you finished it and it looks very neat and warm. Hopefully you are better than me and you will finish the second one 😆
I'm feeling really lucky about the credit card, my husband spotted the charges and was able to call in the fraud alert quickly.
I'm on this work assignment until Friday, traveling through a bunch of different locations training staff members. Ended up with this afternoon free and I'm not sure what to do with myself! Might go geocaching once I get to the area near my hotel.
I'll probably start the Mitten for my April trip to New England. Now that I'm more comfortable with the pattern I think I'm okay with doing some of the more complex things while on the road.

That’s impressive! The only thing I’ve ever knitted is potholders and scarves... you know... square things! Lol
Lol, you have to start somewhere! My first ones were variants on squares, then I discovered hats and knitting in the round. Loop needles kinda make me happy now.
What fresh hell is this? Yarn shops and no dough! I feel for you...but your mitt turned out great?! Thanks for sharing.
