How to make crochet - Stress balls

Stress balls are simple and aren't too time consuming (the one in the instructions took me 1-2 hours to make), I used to fill these with rubble and use them for juggling or playing catch. Lately I decided to try making them again and found an old pillow that makes for good filling.
Here are general instructions about making them:

First you chain 5 and connect with the first chain. Then you go around once with single crochet twice in every hole. Then every second is 2 in one hole, every third and so on.

When you get to every 6-7 you''ll have about a fist sized ball if you start with the next part.
After deciding on your size go around 3 rounds with only single crochet in every chain. adding chains increases the width, skipping chains decreases it while doing normal single crochets makes a cylinder or the width remains constant.

Next you start skipping chains starting with the number you ended adding +1, so if I was adding every 7th I'll start removing every 8th, then every seventh and so on. when you get to around skipping every second you can start filling it while the gap isn't too small.

After filling with and getting to skipping every chain continue skipping until the gap is gone. Tie the end by pulling the string through your final chain and tightening. Push your crochet needle through the bottom and pull the excess string. Do this once or twice from bottom to top, top to bottom, this is also where you adjust the round shape of the result. you can just pull the remainder completely inside the ball and it won't untie.

Very cute stuff @ivan-g! I could see these being filled with beans and used as hackey-sacks, too! Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you!

That's a great idea :o or rice could work too, thanks <3

The Pokemon stress ball looks totally cute :) This is a great tutorial post for everyone who crochets. Thanks for sharing it. 💚

Thank you for checking it out :)

Cool post, thanks for the instructions!

Thank you :)

These are the cutest things, and your instructions make it seem so easy! I've never knitted or crocheted, but used to do cross-stitch and found it to be very soothing and fun. Thanks for sharing this delightful project with #whaleshares 😊

If you like cross stitching you might enjoy filet crochet, I made a post last monday https://www.craftsy.com/crocheting/article/how-to-filet-crochet/ this is a simple tutorial, if you're more of a visual type like me this picture makes more sense:

Dc is double crochet and ch is chain. Once you get the hang of it its extremely simple and you can make some cool pictures :D
Ps. Thanks for checking out the post :)

Lovely balls. LOL. I love it when people show us how they make their projects. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, I'd love it if people worked along and posted results in the comments. Maybe I should add some small prizes for motivation, especially if its not something difficult ^^

I think that's a great idea!

I enjoyed reading your post @ivan-g... I think I may try making a couple using some of my t-shirt yarn... :)

Thank you, make sure to share some pics when you're done :D

Hey @ivan-g! This was a really great tutorial and thanks for the idea. I have never made one of these before. They not only sever a functional purpose but are really cute too. Thanks for sharing the instructions with us! 😊
