Sewing Notions: Little Things Mean a Lot

Today JoAnn Fabrics had a sale on notions: buy 3 items, get 3 free. So I did this:

Clockwise from upper left, I got:

  1. Universal point needles for heavy fabrics;
  2. Assorted ball point needles for knits;
  3. Needle threader with magnifier to aid ageing eyesight;
  4. Ball point pins for knit fabrics;
  5. Tailor's chalk (what professionals use) for marking; and
  6. Needle threader for tapestry needles.

I look forward to using them all regularly.

    There's a lot of little things you need for needlework and it makes sense to buy it when they're on offer. How do the needle threader work? I only know those small ones with the wire.

    The tapestry threaders work the same, but they are bigger with openings for threading yarn through the larger eyes of tapestry needles. The magnifier is a cap that fits over the wire threader.
