NeedleWorkMonday - Crocheted Hooded Scarf
Happy #NeedleWorkMonday folks! Today I am featuring my sister in law’s work! She learned the basics of crocheting back in 2006 by a friend. She stuck with it for awhile then eventually put it away. She started back up crocheting again in 2011 while pregnant with her first child. She’s been working on projects ever since.
The thing I love about her work is she never uses a pattern. We encourage each other because we do the opposite. I lack the confidence to successfully create my own work and finish it. I tend to stick with patterns because I know I will get a guaranteed outcome. She struggles with understanding crochet terms and reading instructions so she creates the visions she sees by just going for it and making it work. I am trying to create more of my own patterns and she wants to be able to read patterns. You know what’s funny, it’s the same way with cooking. I can take a recipe and make it my own and cook pretty much anything. She would rather not read a recipe (those darn directions lol) but instead whips up her own tasty concoctions.
For the last couple of years we have been learning from one another. I have helped her understand some of the crochet terms so when she glances at a pattern she’ll know the basis of what it’s asking. You remember those ninja turtle hats I made last year? They were inspired by my SIL. She’s the one that helped me to “not” look for a pattern but go for it myself and it worked out. Along with her, @cryptocariad, @neumannsalva, @shanibeer, @marblely, @akipponn, @carolinacardoza and others have also inspired me! Seeing your beautiful creations from week to week motivates me to want to try more :)
My SIL crocheted this hooded scarf for a little girl at her church. I like that you can wear the scarf part on the inside or outside of your coat/jacket. Here are a few process pictures...
and here’s the finished project...
I’m sure the little girl will love her gift!! I like the colorful buttons she added on too! My SIL is here on Steemit but is currently getting the feel of things and browsing around. Hopefully she will join #NeedleWorkMonday so you can meet her for yourself. She said
My work is too simple to be on there.
😂😂😂 gotta love her!
I told her we have all levels of crafters from novice to advanced. Anyone will fit in at anytime because we are all learning and growing together. Everyone’s work is individually unique and special no matter what level it is!
What a lovely scarf, with the cold weather here I would wear something like that but maybe not in this color LOL
Lol!! You’re hilarious!! Maybe blue for you? 😄Thanks so much!
Blue or purple would work well for me, just had to do a quick trip out to the pharmacy and supermarket, I would happily have been wearing the pink one LOL
🤣🤣🤣
Love love love this but I only have boysssss
Thank you! Oh yes, I don’t think your boys would want one! 😅
Absolutely
This is the cutest little hat, it would be great for adults too! And.... the colours are to die for!
Thank you so much! My SIL has made them for adults too! Hopefully she will get around to showing them one day :D
Love the buttons! This is a very cute design and lovely colours, and the buttons lift it to something else. It is interesting the way we are all so different - in ideas and approaches - and I like the way we learn and adapt from each other. I hope your sister-in-law makes it here, I'm sure she would enjoy it 😊
Thank you @shanibeer! I agree about the buttons! I love how we can learn from each other has well :D
She confirmed this week she will be working on her intro post and eventually joining us here! Yay!
She is very pleased with the response and lovely comments from everyone ;)
Wow! Your SIL and me is same, I want to make my own.
I want to upvote all needleworkmonday's post but my power still limited...all works are nicely done

You are also very good at making your own designs and modifying them as needed! I want to be like you both when I grow up :D
No problem @jurich60, we appreciate the support you do give ~ 💗
I sent you an SBI share, hopefully that will help boost your post payouts a little. I plan to send more soon ;)
Wow! Thanks much @crosheille in the long run you can design your own, especially if you can not understand the pattern, that's where I started

Thanks @jurich60!
I love the colors and I think that the hat is very cute. We can never get to the advanced phase without passing through the beginning phase, even though I would not describe your sister-in-laws work as a beginner.
Thank you very much! She will be very excited to hear such a compliment :) I don’t consider her work beginner either ~
Your crochet work is very cheerful color.
Button accents are very lovely♡
Thank you! 😊
This project took me straight back to my childhood, myself and many of my friends had something similar :DDD
I love how you and your SIL learn from each other. I am a bit like you - have to follow a pattern ;D
How awesome this took you back down memeory lane ;D
Thank you, I love that we learn from each other too. Maybe one day we both will venture out and make our own designs :D
There's always the first time @crocheille !
If I ever create my own design, I'll definitely be sharing it here :D
Awesome :D
very cute!!! I also like the buttons, they decorate the product even more
Thanks Tala!!!
me encantan tus trabajos.
Thank you very much, I’ll pass along the message!
