Happy #NeedleWorkMonday friends!!! I had a really nice chat with @crystalize last week about how much fun we’ve been having sharing with you all every week! It’s been Amazing to see all of the new additions every week and the many different forms of needlework that is coming to the surface! I also want to commend you all for taking our advice in taking process pictures as you go and explaining how your projects are coming along. It’s been really fun interacting with you as your projects journey along. Keep up the great work!!! 😃👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Well as you know I’ve been really busy completing my latest order from the hat store. I finished two more hat and neck warmer sets and will be delivering them to the store owner this week. However since the Spring weather is starting to peak in, I think we’re going to hold off on making any more of those sets until next Fall. Once I get the time I will be making quite a few sets during the Spring/Summer so that she will be well stocked for the Fall and Winter season. We’re going to discuss me making some Spring scarves for the store (using crochet thread) in the meantime. I have to thank @anise for inspiring me to use crochet thread because I have never worked with it before. I fell in love with her doilies and have been wanting to experiment with the thread ever since.

So as you can see from the picture above I have finally had the time to get started with our baby girl’s blanket! I have made each of my children a crochet blanket since I learned the craft. I’m especially excited to make a girly blanket because when our first daughter was born I didn’t know how to crochet then. So I have only made boy blankets for our kids.

This is a clamshell blanket. I really love the design and I found the color inspiration from Pinterest. My husband feels there are too many colors (6 colors total) and doesn’t appreciate the beauty of it yet lol! He’s so used to me using 2 to 3 colors and doesn’t understand why I want so many. I explained that right now it’s hard to see how nice the colors will blend together because I only have the beginning rows completed. I look forward to seeing just how well they do blend.

So in case you’re wondering why the closeup of the clamshell in the above picture let me tell you why. If you look closely at the tan colored one on the bottom you will see that it’s off centered. 🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s aligned to the left unlike the forest green shell above it. I was just talking about how much of a perfectionist I am and would “normally” frog everything to go and fix my mistakes. Well here are my thoughts...

I’m too far along in pregnancy to even bother with more stress, I am not selling this blanket it’s only for my baby girl and as long as you don’t look too close you won’t notice it lol! 👀

I am only sharing this annoying horrific error exclusive mistake with my needlework peeps! 😉😄 Besides, I have completed a few more rows since taking these pictures so that confirms there’s no turning back.

So as you can see below that whole row is in error. 😐

Nevertheless I think I will love it once it all comes together. I also want to admit I almost decided to quit and start a new design. The pattern is a bit confusing at first. It is written in UK terms but an English translation is included. If it wasn’t for the Youtube video tutorial she includes at the end, I probably would have let it go. She did rate this pattern Tricky which definitely explains it. It’s an 8 row pattern and once you’ve completed the first 8 rows you continue repeating rows 3-8 throughout the entire blanket. I tend to loose track easily because I’m constantly stopping to parent and lose my place.

I’ll be checking in with you all with the progress as I go. Once again I thank @anise for the inspiration for sticking to a project and getting it done. She did an amazing job on her filet curtain working on it little by little throughout the week. I am so ready to move on to her baby clothes and cardigan but I am determined to finish her blanket first! 🤞🏽😜

Huge shoutout to @rigaronib for creating my logo/banner!!! He was so awesome to work with and as you can see he produces great results!!!! Thank you!!!

I love the blanket, but I can so understand you wanting to quit (don't do it) I never finished a blanket myself (shame.....) And I think the pattern with its deeper inserted stitches is beautiful and highlights your colours perfectly. By the way: there could never be to many colours :-D

This little stitch which is jumping out of the centre is making you blanket unique, I think it shows how much work and concentration is necessary to finish such a beautiful designe. You perhaps already heard the Japanese term 'wabisabi', but I think in Christianity there are similar concepts, that things which grow and ripe, which show signs of imperfections are true art, because only god is perfect :-D

Thank you so much for always leaving thoughtful and encouraging responses! I really value what you say. I won’t give up, it’s starting to really come along well now :)

I like that, “Signs of imperfection are true art.” Someone else said that a small imperfection is like a signature. I love getting feedback from you all~ 💕

I love all the colours in your blanket...And the clamshell stitch! As for the "mistake"...well, after my curtain was blocked and hanging, I looked at it and noticed a mistake that seemed to jump out at me! I can even see it in the picture I posted. But I'll bet no one else can find it! And I don't think anyone will notice yours either. We are our own worst critics, as they say. I am happy I was able to inspire you to try thread! I think you will love it like I do. And I am happy to have this platform to share my progress. It certainly helped to keep me motivated to finish...and if others were motivated as well...thats a bonus! ❤️

I always look forward to your responses :) Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! You are so right about us being our worst critics. I’m sure no one else will notice your mistake either.

Yes your work has really inspired me and the way you stay committed to finishing your curtain . I’m so glad to hear this plattform helped you stay on top of things. This group has been a good source of accountability for me. It really helps when you know you have people rooting for you and “waiting” to see the finished project you have started. 😄

My psychic powers tell me that tour oldest is going to get an awesome and BIG blanket one day.

Maybe you can make some headbands for the shop for summer, or some barefoot sandals. Those tend to work up quick :)

😄 With the rate she’s going with learning to sew and picking up crocheting, she’ll be making her own big blanket!!! 👌🏽

Ahhh!!! I didn’t think about headbands!!!! I was just looking at some sandals of those sorts. I saw ones you can make from flip flop bottoms too! Thanks so much for that idea!!! 😃😉

He just doesn't understand.! LOL!!! Once you get a few repeating rows going, he will be telling you how pretty it is. Hee! And it IS pretty. How fun that you get to work on a girls blanket this time. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you, my dear!

LOL! He sure doesn’t! Thank you so much for the support. I know he’ll come around eventually lol. Yay for girls!! 😄

I think it is perfect, just the way it is...It is not only good for kids to have little bits of proof that mom isn't perfect...but also that small mistakes are Okay. Two super important bits of worldly truth <3

I left the big black killer bee in the hooked rug, just to see if she wonders forever why it is in such a serene place ;) It's good to make them wonder...

Awww thanks so much!!! I didn’t think of it that way. That makes me feel even more okay about leaving it the way it is :) I really appreciate you and your perspective on things~ 💕

Aw, I want one too....:D. What a colorful and beautiful blanket to be. Even though there is a mistake (which is not too visible to me haha), it is still such a beauty. Look forward to seeing the final result.

Ha!!!!! 😄 You’re so sweet, thank you!!! Although the size I’m making probably won’t be big enough for you lol! I really appreciate your positive feedback and encouragement! Thank you very much <3

it's very interesting to see the blanket already ready, Cynthia! I love everything bright so I already like it :)

Yay I’m glad you like it already! Thanks so much Tala. I look forward to showing you all more as I go along :)

Happy crocheting for your baby girl @crosheille! It was one of the happy time during my pregnancy preparing a blanket for my daughter and wondering what kind girl is she, what do we do together etc :)

Thank you!! ☺️ Yes it is a very happy time for us and I was getting so anxious just to start crocheting something for her. I wish I had more time before she arrives to make tons more but I can only do so much. I’m wondering what type of girl she will be too...it’s fun guessing who she will look like too! 😊

The colors are SO beautiful on this blanket! Cannot wait to see the finished product. And you are so right - no need to do it again...baby girl won’t care and no one will be up that close to even notice. Wonderful job! 💜

Thank you my dear!! I really appreciate your encouraging words! It was so good chatting with you today ;) 💜

Yes, and hopefully next time I will be able to talk! 😊

Right!! 😉

It will be a warm and beautiful blanket for your girl. I have two such blankets and my children love them very much for being warm and soft.

Thank you very much!!! 😊💕
