Needlework Monday - Crochet With CroSheille Episode #1
Hello everyone and Happy #NeedleWorkMonday! I am so excited to launch Episode 1 of ‘Crochet with CroSheille’ on DTube! Since I first started sharing my crochet work here on Steemit I’ve been asked several times if I could start a tutorial series for beginners and share what I do. I’ve always wanted to do this but just couldn’t find the time to get started back then. So here I am now getting things rolling!
NeedleWorkMonday
For those of you who haven’t came across my blog yet I would like to give you a little background of who I am. You’ll find that I post about family, homeschooling, DIY, health, photography, essential oils, natural birth etc., but most of all I love writing about and sharing my passion for crocheting! In July of 2017 I started the #NeedleWorkMonday weekly initiative to bring other crafters together to share our work and inspire each other. It has grown tremendously since then and so many valuable connections and friendships have been made.
If you do any type of needlework ie. crochet, knitting, sewing, embroidery, needle felt, bead work, quilting, upholstery etc., you are welcome to join us! What you do is use the #NeedleWorkMonday tag on Monday’s and share the projects you are working on or have completed. Don’t feel you have to wait until a project is finished before posting it. We love seeing projects come to life and encourage that you share your process pictures along the way ;)
Supplies
In this first episode I decided to share some supplies that are good to start with. I feel when learning about a new craft the first thing you need to know is what supplies and/or tools you’ll need to have to get started.
Supplies:
- Crochet Hooks
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
- Measuring Tape
- Mini Supply Pouch
- Tote Bags for Storage and Travel
- Worsted Weight Yarn
My favorite crochet hooks are called Boye because of the smooth rounded tips. They don’t snag your work or get caught in your projects like some of the other rough edged ones. I suggest to focus on getting a size K (10 1/2 or 6.5mm in U.S.terms) crochet hook to begin with because it’s thicker and will be easier to control when first starting out. I also suggest purchasing one skein of worsted weight yarn.
You’ll need a pair of scissors (small or regular sized) to cut away your ends on finished projects and a tapestry needle to weave them in. Measuring tape comes in handy when measuring head circumference when making hats as well as determining other measurements when following patterns. Having a mini supply bag to put these mini tools in will save you from losing them and help you keep them in good condition. A bigger tote bag is good for holding and protecting your projects and yarn and for taking your projects on the go.
Crochet For Beginners
These tutorials will be very basic and starting from the very beginning of crocheting. I want those of you that have never dealt with yarn or never picked up a crochet hook to be able to follow along with me comfortably and feel confident that you too can crochet. If you stick with me you’ll be making hats, scarves, blankets etc. as time goes on. We’ll take it one step and one stitch at a time ;)
To All of my #NeedleWorkMonday friends I would really love and appreciate your support with this new project of mine. I know you’re probably thinking,
Will this pregnant lady just sit down and rest? Ha! 😅
Y’all know me I have to stay busy and keep moving, challenges keep me alive and motivate me! For you advanced crocheters even though I am starting out with very basic tutorials I would still love your support also and to help spread the word that I am starting these tutorials. I am so grateful for Steemit and other social media plattforms that are helping us keep crafting alive!!!

I am so glad @girlbeforemirror connected you to us! I am looking forward to seeing more of her projects! Thank you for always supporting me, it’s means a great deal~ ☺️
Honestly when I saw this post I had mixed feelings. At first I was like a start up tutorial for a
novicebeginner like me?!! Wow this is cool , I should really buy those requirements and follow along! Then next thing I'm saying is oh my gosh that baby is gonna come out of the belly crocheting a piece at this rate! But you're willing to show us regardless and I'm happy. please I was wondering if there was a way I could save the video
This!! LOL!!😂 @crosheille I'm just in awe of your boundless energy. Can I have just a small percentage of it? haha! I think it's wonderful that you're doing a tutorial series!
Ditto!
LOL!! I know she really made me laugh too, she’s so sweet, honest and hilarious!
Thank you!!! Sure you can have whatever percentage you want!!! 😄 I am really excited about doing this! Thank you for your support~ ❤️
Lol!! Haa you made me laugh with this comment, it’s so hilarious! I’d have to agree that the baby might already be making herself a hat in my belly!! 😄
It’s really no problem for me in fact it brings me great joy to be starting this! Staying busy with things I love keeps me alive and well...mind and body. I hope you are able to tune in and give it a try! 😉
I think once you go into DTube to view the video, there is a button you can push that is by the video to share or save it. Thank you for your comment and for always sharing your thoughts with me. That’s one thing I love about you is that you are not afraid to speak your mind and to give honest good ole feedback! 😄😘
I'm glad I made you laugh😍😍 Yeah about the Dtube , I haven't quite had a nice experience posting from there but I'm able to watch the video and yeah I see where to click to save. Thanks for doing this!i
I’m glad you found where to save the video!! I still have a lot to learn about DTube, it does take time figuring out how to properly upload your videos.
Absolutely! I am really enjoying it! Looking forward to sharing Episode 2 on Monday!! 😊
Nice to see you vlogging! :-) I love that bag, it seems very convenient to use the yarns. You are very good in vlogging btw!
Thank you!!!! 😃 I have always wanted to
do this so I’m really excited about getting started. Yes this bag is very convenient and it holds soooo much! Thanks so much! I really value your feedback and I appreciate your support!!! 😘❤️
Love this!
@crosheille you are beautiful!❤
Thank you so much!! ☺️☺️❤️
Happy mother's day!
Thank you! I hope your Mother’s Day was Marvelous!!
Hiya Crosheille.
Loved your intro video. You've got such a friendly and kind way about you. I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy this series.
BTW I NEEEEEEED that bag!
Well done on the 5th pregnancy. I gave up after 3 :D
<3
Thank you so much @anjkara!! ☺️ I’m so glad you did and thanks for viewing!
Oh yes this bag is really a handy tool!! Hopefully in the future I will be able to do giveaways!! 😃😉
We thought we were done after 3!!! Lol
hahaha thought you were done after 3!! XD Oops lol
Yes, consider me a regular viewer to your channel as it builds. I love all things crochet :D
Lol!! Guess we were wrong :D
Yay I’m glad to hear it!! 😃☺️
That was lovely! I was watching/listening while doing dishes. I'm not a beginner, but I think you were very clear and well spoken. I have so many different interests (art, music, crochet) it seems things happen in waves here. When I was pregnant I crocheted hats for everyone because it was the perfect short project for me. I haven't picked up a hook in over a year and I miss it!
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate your support and feedback! Do you think you will ever get back to crocheting? If so we’d love to have you join us in sharing your work on #NeedleWorkMonday!!! 😊
You are beautiful @crosheille!! You have a kind and big heart to always want to share what you know and to bring craft alive! 😍 Thank you for sharing the video. It is truly a commitment and thank you for taking your time to do this, despite your busy schedule taking care of 4 kids and the 5th baby on the way! Looking forward to the next video!
P.S. I really like the color combination of the blanket / afghan in the "Supplies" section.
Thank you so much for such sweet compliments and giving me your feedback! It really is my pleasure and passion and I hope that this motivates others to start crafting! Thank you, I am glad you like the color combo!! 😃😊
Yes it does! You have truly brought us all together, all for the love of crafts! ❣️❣️❣️
🤗🤗🤗❤️
Great idea to start this video! You are quite a busy lady with blog, video, and 4 babies and almost 5 kids!
Thank you!!! I am really excited about it and have always wanted to do this. Yes I am and will be very busy but I love the thrill of it all. Staying busy keeps my mind going and growing and it also motivates me to keep moving :D I have a lot of fun doing all of this, it’s my get away adventure Haa!!! 😄 Thanks so much for your support and feedback!’ ❤️
Gracias por esta excelente información, la tendré en cuenta.
¡Eres bienvenido y gracias por ver! 😊
Hi @crosheille , great to see your first vlog. wishing you all the success with it!
You must be a really busy woman with the fifth baby on the way and all your projects also! How do you even find the time for vlogging...? I'm really impressed!
Thank you @vliet!! 😃
Yes I stay pretty busy but I love the thrill of it all. Staying busy with things I enjoy really keeps me motivated and happy. It really helps that my husband keeps watch over the kids while I am busy doing a lot of things. I couldn’t do it without him. I have always been the type of person that loves a challenge. I was telling someone that I go through these stages where one minute I feel like I’m doing too much and the next I’m like ready to take on more...I’m just weird like that I guess lol!
Thank you so much for your comment :)
It's great to have a really helping husband!
I also find that doing things I like give me extra motivation and energy, even if I stay up late to do it :)
It really is helpful! Lol that’s awesome! I find myself staying up too late quite a bit because once I get going on something it’s hard to stop!! 😄😅
Haha, I know the feeling, it's usually one more line, which ends up being 20 more... :D
Haa!! That’s exactly it!! 😂😂😂
