Reddish-brown Obaachan Hat / あずき色のおばあちゃん帽子

Obaachan is a friendly Japanese word, which means grandma or elderly ladies in general.

I’m happy to see Obaachans (or also people of other generations) on street who wear a beret-ish unique style hat in this season. Often it's Reddish-brown. It looks friendly while it has a nice lady style.

I don’t wear hat but it was comfortably warm when I borrowed my partner’s hat few days ago. Also as it’s getting cold, I decided to knit mine. I found a simple garter stitch pattern on Raverly. It has a bit Obaachan hat style. I bought Reddish-brown yarn of course.

Even from a simple pattern, I learn something new. This time German Twist Cast-on :)

I’ll buy one more ball of yarn and will be done in next days. I look forward to wear the hat soon!

There is one more item on my needles. I’m proof knitting my long lasting baby/kids sweater at the same time. Now it has arm holes and gets longer. I’ll write about it once there is more visible progress or it’s completed.

街を歩いていると、ベレー帽というか、ニット帽というか、独特の帽子をかぶっている人がいます。多くはおばあちゃんたちで、なんとも素敵です。色はあずき色などおばあちゃんカラーが多いように思います。こっそりおばあちゃん帽子と呼んでいます。

このところ寒くて、この前お父ちゃんの帽子を借りたら思いのほか暖かくて快適だったので、自分のを編むことにしました。おばあちゃん帽子を思い出し、あずき色の毛糸を買ってきました。おばあちゃん帽子テイストのガーター編みのシンプルなパターンを見つけてざくざく編んでいます。パターンは例によって例のごとくRaverlyから。

おばあちゃんたちの帽子みたいになるかな。今日お迎えがてら、街の手芸屋さんでもう一玉買って、あと数日で完成するでしょう。

他には長く着られる赤ちゃん・子どもセーターの試作も年末年始に再開して、アームホールができて、胴をどんどん編んでいます。もうちょっと目に見える進展があったらまた書きます :) 次の冬にはパターンを公開できるかな（遅！）。
