The Kyrie Irving trade saga continues...
Looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers are doing a shakedown on the Boston Celtics. Upon further review of Isaiah Thomas hip injury, they're now more concerning than previously thought. Now the Cavs want more assets to complete the trade. In additional to Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and Brooklyn’s 2018 first round pick, the Cavs are eyeing youngins Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum to complete the trade deal. That's a lot to ask for Kyrie Irving. The Celtics are fighting back saying they were completely transparent and gave all information regarding Thomas injury and rehab.
This will be totally awkward if the trade deal becomes void and all players goes back to their respected teams.
I don't particularly care about either team, but I'm glad it adds a little drama and intrigue during a few weeks of the year that are typically pretty quiet for NBA basketball.
same here, don't like either team. but it's been an entertaining off seasons the last couple of years.
Although Boston is hesitant to add a single more piece to this trade, their hand may very well be forced into it. If this trade is voided, Cavs are back to square 1 with a disgruntled but entering his prime Kyrie, and can go get something of value from another team. Meanwhile, the Celtics now have IT, Crowder and Zizic feeling betrayed, possibly ruining team chemistry and culture. The Celtics are in a delicate balance between staying atop the Eastern Conference and having a fractured locker room and thus must act accordingly.
What about another team jumping back in the race? The Bucks and Suns should seriously consider upping their offer and seeing if they can steal Kyrie if this trade gets voided.
