NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Starters

in #nba7 years ago (edited)

Piggy backing off of @brandonp's post (https://steemit.com/nba/@brandonp/my-picks-for-nba-eastern-conference-all-star-starters) here's my East All-Star Team.

I've also gone for the previous system and I like the 5 guards, 5 forwards and 2 centers model too.

GUARDS

Starters - Kyrie Irving and Giannis Antetokounmpo

Kyrie left Cleveland for more responsibility and he has delivered in spades leading from the front with the injury to Gordon Haywood - a lot of other "stars" wouldn't have been able to carry the team like he did for that 16 or game win streak after the shocking first 5mins of the very first game of the season.

The Greek freak could be named in any spot in this team but because of there being better forwards the guards in the East, I've put him here. There is literally nothing this man doesn't do on the floor, his efficiency is insane and his utmost detest for 3 pointers in today's game is breathe of fresh air.

Bench - Victor Olapido, Ben Simmons, Bradley Beal

Olapido will be the most improved player this season and I personally didn't think he could put up numbers like this, nor maintain it like he has.

I had Simmons as a starter originally but he;s tailed off a bit of late but similar to the Greek Freak, being able to be so efficient without shooting anything from longer then 15 feet will make things very scary after an off-season or 2. Being a Melbourne local who watched his Dad play in the Aussie league, I'm a bit biased too.

Bradley Beal - this is a case of "someone from Washington needs to make it" and with Wall missing a chunk of play and the Wizards being able to maintain their position without him, I opted for Beal who can score as easily as anyone in the NBA.

FORWARDS

Starters - Lebron James and DeMar Derozan

Lebron somehow gets better every year, this being his 15th or 16th, by upping his 3 point % to over 40%. He's simply the greatest athlete we've ever seen in any sport ever.

DeMar Derozan continues to get it done from mid-range like no one else with Toronto again being the best of the worst in the East. He has also upped his 3 point production as of late, making him even more dangerous.

Bench - Kristaps Porzingis, Kevin Love, Tobius Harris

Kristaps Porzingis has embraced taking over the big dog position in New York and even though they have had a very easy schedule to date, he's the type of player that will go to another level against better opposition...and so young with maybe more upside than anyone in the NBA.

Kevin Love has finally found his spot within the Lebron show and could be almost considered a center these days but he's been more consistent then ever as Cav this season.

Tobius Harris has turned into the go-to guy at the Detroit and even though him and his tam have been up and down, I think he's done enough to warrant his first All-Star nod.

CENTERS

Joel Embiid is a monster on the court and on social media and WANTS the ball everytime in the clutch, something I'd like to see Simmons do more of with the game on the line. He's had some huge games this year and now that his minutes restrictions are gone, his second half of the season might be better then his first.

Andre Drummond had a stagnate season or 2 but seems to have turned the corner this season, even hitting over half his free throws. He might have a 25+ rebound game at some point this season and also a very underrated assist man as a center.
