Did you know that trees in winter drop their leaves because they don't have enough oxygen for food? In winter the trunk and branches breathe through pores of spongy tissue called lenticels, which exchange gases between the atmosphere and the inside of the crust then it seems that it sleeps but it is not, during the cold work hard producing substances that will stimulate the growth of buds in spring, these buds are the small buds that we can see in spring that will then be transformed into new leaves.
