Hedge Bindweed is in the Morning Glory family. The twisting, climbing stems can be seen in the spring as they wrap around other plants and because of this, it is considered to be a weed in gardens. But it does make for a good fence cover.
The large white flowers bloom between June and September, and are approximately 2-3 inches long.
The large leaves of the hedge bindweed are ine the shape of an arrow and have a pointed tip. They can grow to be 5 inches long.
When you look inside the middle of the flower, you will see the stigma at the top which collects pollen.
Here you can see the damage that has been done to the flower by a Japanese beetle.
A bee came by and collected the pollen from the stigma. A happy bee and beetle and a happy me!
