THE KOALA

The Koala is a marsupial and a herbivore. They inhabit and feed on the Eucalypt tree. Koalas can spend up to 20 hours a day sleeping. They live in societies. Their body length is between 60–85 cm and weigh between 4–15 kg. Many people call them Koala bears, Koalas are not even closely related to bears. They are more closely related to the wombat. Like Kangaroos they raise their young in a pouch. The word Koala comes from the Aboriginal language meaning "no drink" Most of their hydration is through Eucalyptus leaves. Koalas are found in South Australia, Queensland , New South Wales and Victoria.
