Those talons of these predatory birds are no joke. Me and my aunt had taken our dog Bear to the beach one day and within some grass fields adjacent to the top side of the walking grounds before the shoreline, we saw some other dog owners spread out as their smaller dogs roamed the grassy areas, finding places to mark their territory. Needless to say, it was quite a shock and surprise as we heard the sobbing protests of a dog owner and the helpless yelps of a Shitzu being clutched within sharp talons and lifted off the ground by a powerful falcon. Wasn't much to be done but watch in awe from a distance as the dog owner mourned her pet's imminent death as the falcon and Shitzu became a speck far away. Everybody leashed up their dogs and looked to the skies the rest of the day. I don't think it even matters much how big a dog is anyway, there are some eagles who go after deer and bigger prey. Some birds are just ridiculously strong
