BE THE SOLUTION, NOT THE PROBLEM

in #nature7 years ago

What is happening in the world today?

War, famine, deforestation, adverse weather conditions, life threatening illnesses and disease.

We ask ourselves why?

Yet others distance themselves from this reality, try and block it out. But we can't ignore what is happening, we are all connected this effects us all.

We need to change what we can in our own lives, live more in harmony with the earth.

We live in a time where we have become obsessed with cleanliness. In order to keep ourselves and our homes clean we are in fact dirtying our environment. We are using products that are polluting the rivers and streams, that our damaging the ozone. These same products are toxic to us, to our families. We are willingly bringing poison into our homes.

But we have a choice we can use natural ingredients, these toxic products have not been around that long. We need to go back to what people used before. We need to start using vinegar, water and essential oils as an all round cleaner. Use tea tree oil as an antibacterial. Going through all these alternatives is in itself another post . There are so many natural options out there, we do not need to clean ourselves with toxic products. There are so many people out there making amazing natural creams, soaps etc.

We also put chemicals, pesticides into the soil, and on to our food. We see green spaces in cities and towns being sprayed with more chemicals. We eat that food, allow our children to play in those spaces and yet the workers who spray the crops, the grass are dressed like this!

Why would we want to eat that food? I know it is cheaper, but we should not put a price on our health, on the earth. The effects that all these toxins are having on us on the environment is huge. We need to eat more organic food, start to produce our own. Even if you live in a small space you can grow some food, even if a balcony is your only outdoor space you can quite easily build a vertical garden out of pallets or bottles, both I have done in the past.

Look at our homes, so much energy is put into making a home. We prepare our food there, shelter ourselves and our families, we care for one another in our homes. Yet our homes are full of toxic furnishings, decor, appliances and I have already talked about the cleaning products. Our flooring, our insulation contains harmful VOC's , which are being released into the air and are slowly poisoning us. This is not what a home is meant to be.

We used to all live in natural abodes and now alot of people live in huge concrete buildings that are poisoning them, because they see these houses as a sign of their wealth. But really it is costing them their health. How far we have come, to end up doing this to ourselves. But their are alternatives, their are choices.

So many people on steemit are proof of a way that we can live that can benefit us greatly and in doing so also benefit the earth. Some of those amazing people are:
@markwhittam, @eco-alex, @schoonercreek,@mountainjewel, @wwf, @purplemoon, @squdsi1,@sustainancy, @canadianrenegade, @bobydimitrov, @ecoinstant, @gardenbsquared . These are just the ones I know and I am sure there are many more, check out their blogs and be inspired.

The best solution from my point of view is Permaculture.

Permaculture is the harmonious integration needed, it is the conscious way of thinking.

It is all about change and flow and being present.

It is letting nature take us by the hand and guide us.

Whatever needs to be done, we are the people to do it!

I absolutely agree with your message! I will do all I can to make people stop the chemical warfare in our gardens and farms. Starting with a few posts this spring about natural pest control! And thank you for the mention, it's an honor!

Great to hear you say that @bodydimitrov, I really enjoy the posts you do.

No doubt the chemical shitstorm is almost hard to fathom. It's everywhere. And permaculture really is the answer because it's the whole picture. It's house, energy, food, and community. Sometimes I wonder how dark it will have to get before people are willing to change. It has been wild to me how resistant people have been to switch to solar, even when it doesn't really cost extra.

Yes! Right on! Agree wholeheartedly and wish to see this information spread <3 keep steemin! Xo

I agree with you .nice information thank you for sharing

Agree with you philosophy about keeping it green. We try to do everything we can to keep toxins out of our lives. So many options why not chose the healthy ones. Great post.🐓🐓

totally agree with this post and I think more people need to read it. We know already and we took the step forward to go out of the system, that's why we live off-grid. But we need to show by example that a better life is indeed possible and that we can help the Mother Earth and the Universe that gave us Life.

Resteemed of course :)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I think that the more we learn about self organizing systems, the more we realize that all of the systems that we depend on (our ecology, our economy, our society, and our bodies) function the same way, through feedback loops. Because they organize themselves around inputs, and use feedback to stabilize themselves, they are very adaptable and also exquisitely sensitive.

But they aren't unbreakable. Unfortunately, we have had a historical tendency to denigrate nature, to denigrate the product of these self organizing systems as "chaotic", or "uncivilized". We tend to see nature as a lack of organization, not realizing that the inability to recognize organized complexity is our failing, not nature's.

Because we see nature as chaos, we tend to see ourselves as heroic banishers of chaos, see ourselves as wading into the breech of nature "red in tooth and claw" and imposing our beneficent order on things. And we expect predictability and benevolence to flow from this imposition.

But that's not the way any of the systems work. Because our imposition of "order" consists of cutting feedback loops and attempting to deny causality its due by simply forbidding an outcome, we break the system rather than improve it. We create a huge bubble of disruption, not seeing that life is a circle, and that this bubble will circle around and then unseat us from the train in due time. At which point the train will continue on its way undisturbed, rid of its pestilent passengers.

All of life, ourselves included, is technology -- organized intelligence. Dissipative systems that emerge spontaneously, feeding off energy marching past us from big bang to heat death. And if we are to survive for any significant length of time, we need to learn and accept how these systems function. The universe is designed to foster the emergence of self organizing systems. And it rids itself pretty quickly of systems that think they can outsmart causality, and replaces them with systems that understand and play by the rules.

Next step is to see that permaculture applies to everything, from sociology to farming, from medicine to economics.

Great to see people promoting permaculture, thanks for the post!

Yes our dominant view and separation from nature has been our big downfall, but we are awakening and rising up. Thank you for your very thoughtful comment @gwiss

It's a topic that interests us all

I'm really happy to hear you say that @bakabou159704

you have some amazing list of people down there! I started checking their profiles out and what a treasure I found!!! I am there for the last hour :)

Thank you for sharing it with us!!! and thank you also for adding me on it :) xx

Yeah there are some very inspirational people on here, yourself included. Glad you now get to connect with them x

yes! I was fallowing this boring people until now (ok, with some anarchist and artist exceptions!) but steemit is full of other amazing alternative people. We should do it more often! To promote people down here. It is very helpful. For me at least it surely was! :)

Thank you for using the tag :) Been a little busy but will make sure to put more time in.

@team-solutions has promoted your post :)
Please tag any of your posts that provide solutions with team-solutions and I will happily Re-steem and up-vote.
Thank you for the great content!
