the quiet predators of the ocean

The calm and quiet landscape of the Antarctic peninsula is one that can easily captivate and hypnotize the most rowdy of people. However, the peaceful nature of this place is only on the surface, as the large marine mammal predators stalk and forage the coastal waters in search of their next meal. None are more graceful or deadly as Orca in the Southern Ocean. Their intelligence, size and strength are second to none and typically if they want something, they will get it by using all of their strengths & tactics.

Here are two male Type B orca stalking their way near a penguin breeding colony where we did find quite a few seals nearby as well. These two big boys appeared and then after a few surfacings to breath they simply disappeared as quickly as they appeared. I was lucky to not only encounter these two males but took a few photos to prove that I did in fact encounter them.
