When the World Floods

in #nature7 years ago

The last couple of days has seen a fair bit of rain in Bangkok. Torrential down pours are common during the rainy season and temporary flooding is just part of it. It rained for a couple of hours yesterday and the street flooded, luckily the house- and other houses were higher than street level, but it reminded me of one particular waterfall in North Thailand, not far from Chiang Mai.
At the time, they had just had a lot of rain the day before and as a result closed all waterfall visits and turned people away at the park gate. Being mid week I don't think this interrupted too many people.

When I visited, it was the first day of reopening and we were told to be cautious over the rocks while taking photos. Normally the water should run 'white' but after storms, a lot of soil, sediment and forest waste is picked up and turns the water to a chocolate brown.

The water was powerful enough to dislodge rocks and every now and then, there would be some movement- as well as the odd log of part of a tree coming down from up top!

Thank you. Appreciate your support.

what can I say here, the photos are great but the scene they show is miserable

It was very gloomy there, dark heavy clouds, mist and incredibly loud from ll the water crashing down. Still amazing those.

Good shots!

It was so noisy there- the water was incredibly powerful.

Then don't get in the water :D
