Komodo Dragon and Me! (video/GIF)
Nearly 10 years ago I was in this very situation. A trip to Komodo Island and Rinjani Island in Indonesia I was on the hunt for the dragons.
Upon arrival they were everywhere. Some were sleepy, while others were just wandering around. This particular dragon decided to lie down right next to my bag 15 minutes before my boat was about to depart. With no sign of him about to move I had to fearfully fish my bag to safety!
The point and shoot camera hanging from around my neck was all I shot with at the time. It had limited capabilities and a max resolution of 3 million megapixels, although I thought it was smart to set it to the lowest resolution to get the most amount of photos on my 16MB SD card- yes 16MB card.
I did manage to get close enough- by hiding behind a palm tree to get this shot (this image is at FULL resolution!).

You are brave to approach dragons. Whereas the Komodo dragon is a very deadly animal because it has a sharp fangs and saliva are venomous but you dare to approach it. The scene is very amazing .
They are amazing animals- I was ready to run and had an escape route pre-planned in my mind lol!

Yes, there is only one place- actually- 2 maybe 3 small islands (next to each other) that have Komodo Dragons- nowhere else.

This is cool. One of my dreams to visit Komodo island. Maybe I'll bring a drone there - wonder how that would go down?
Seen lots of ppl fly and film from Indo so is probably ok- the waters around there are pristine- check out google maps for that area and the hundreds of islands- the waters really are that amazing.
