This sort of reminds me of the NW coast beaches I visited, particularly Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island. I lived far inland on the prairie in Alberta at the time, and I was so fascinated by the bull kelp that amassed on shore, I took some home with me! At that time, I did not know it is edible! Harvesting Bullwhip Kelp.
Yes, most people don't venture far from their cars - beyond a 15 minute walk in the park in my neighborhood, you hardly meet anyone, but the parking lot is crowded!
Oh wow! You can eat that stuff? I'll have to check out that link. There is so much of it here that you could eat for years. That is interesting to know. I wonder if the stuff here is the same kind of kelp?
