Extreme Birdwatching in B.C: Bald Eagle

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

A fierce predator, with excellent vision and agility. No mice are safe in its purview. Are you?

On my trip out west, I noticed this bird perching near the sea, way up in a spruce tree. Luckily with a new camera that has generous optical zoom, I managed to snap these shots. Hope you enjoy.

A majestic creature for sure. I can't tell if I'm spying on him or he's spying on me. Either way it's a million-mile stare.

There's no doubt that he saw me and took a keen interest. Luckily I'm not made of fish so we left eachother in peace because of our mutual respect. That's the Canadian way.

Like most forum lurkers, this bird prefers to watch and learn. Of course, we can't dismiss the symbolism of this bird - the icon of America. However not everyone thought that the bald eagle was the best candidate for America's top bird. I leave you with a quote from Benjamin Franklin:

"I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen as the representative of our country; he is a bird of bad moral character; like those among men who live by sharping and robbing, he is generally poor, and often very lousy."

Nice photo's! And welcome back!

Great photos. Your camera must be a high quality camera

Thanks for that, it's actually a Sony Cybershot HX350 which is one of their mid-line cameras - anyone can buy one. I bought it to replace the HX300, which got broken somehow that I can't remember. This baby comes with 50x integrated optical zoom and can go up to 270x. Perfect for spies, birdwatchers and paparazzi.

But macro photos are more my thing.

Oh that's cool..getting a camera is one of my top priorities right now

Sent you a Steemdollar towards your new camera @jemimah

Nice shot of the eagle!

I few years ago, I was looking at the Nikon p900 with 83x optical...

That camera should require NATO clearance. xD

Skip to 4:15 to see the rings of Saturn!

That's great, I can't wait to test out the tripod on this thing, go way up the nearest hill and look for celestial bodies, stars and UFOs at full zoom!

You could probably make decent $$ here with UFO sightings. Steemit loves that shit! xD

Well, I am a fish, though :) And meeting that predator would make me really scared. It would kill an unarmed man for sure. Fortunately it does't attack first.

wonderful photos. Fantastic post! :) @stonedfood
