Why we need whales to save the planet (Take 5 minutes to watch this!) Ecotrain
"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe." - John Muir
This remarkable short video describes new scientific findings into how whales are responsible for removing massive amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere every year while also increasing the populations of fish, krill, plankton and plant life in the oceans. This goes contrary to what the whaling industry would argue - that the less whales there are, the more fish there will be, because there won't be any whales to eat them. In fact, the complete opposite is true. The more whales there are, the more of all other life forms there will be.
'When whales were at their historic populations, before their numbers were reduced, it seems that whales might have been responsible for removing tens of millions of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere every year. Whales change the climate. The return of the great whales, if they are allowed to recover, could be seen as a benign form of geo-engineering. It could undo some of the damage we have done, both to the living systems of the sea, and to the atmosphere.'

Wolves are also very good for the eco system
I saw that one too. Amazing. Ecosystems are so perfectly balanced by millions of years of evolution, in ways that scientists are only beginning to understand. Of course, people who lived closer and more in harmony with nature have known this all along.
We must admit, us whales are quite spectacular.
Lol poonamis!
Whales are amazing! Do you know the reason why blue whales are so big is that the bigger they are the louder and deeper the sound they can produce. Low frequency sound travels a long way, especially through water, so whales can communicate across masseive distances. Another curious thing about whales is that they have very small ears - about the diameter of a pencil.
Did you know that the whale is an insect and feeds on bananas?
I believe that's from a Monty Python skit or something
Indeed, I did not know that. Thank you for the interesting fact. Did you also know that Monty Python was the first person to walk on the moon, but no-one believed him? He built a big ladder to it from his back garden in Guilford and then abseiled back down. That was in 1963. True fact.
This is the best reply ever! Especially when sitting in a less than attractive crowded airport waiting for a much delayed flight! I love this! 😂💕
Plus thank goodness for the facts and fictions of Monty Python.
Did you know that the whale is a fish according to Herman Melvilles "scientific" treatise in Moby Dick?
I did not know that - although I have read Moby Dick. It's a great story. Captain Ahab was completely insane.
Very nice information, thanks for posting.
Thanks. I'm always on the lookout for good news and interesting stories. glad you liked this one
They are my friends. That eye...I know them. I love them. Great to hear about how wonderfully they are in sync with everything. let's take example from that!
I Love the Whales .....Thanks Gideon.
