Hairy Vine Honeysuckle (Lonicera hispidula) - native California wildflower
The Hairy Vine Honeysuckle (Lonicera hispidula) is a native California perennial. It is a crawling vine with oval leaves 1-3 inches long and tubular pinkish-purple flowers about 1 inch long. It produces dense clusters of red berries. Hairy Vine Honeysuckle provides nectar for humming birds and its berries are enjoyed by many different types of birds.
Close up of bloom. Not beautiful flower but interesting shape and nice color.
Cluster of blooms and view of vine and leaves.
Another close up of bloom. Most of the flowers were closed :( not sure if it was the time of day or season.
Working through more pictures from Morgan Territory Regional Preserve, June 2018. What a beautiful place to hike!

I love wild honeysuckle @steven-patrick although I've not heard of the hairy vine variety. Does it have a lovely scent? That's my favourite thing about them usually.
Yes the scent is nice and yes the thing I'm finding about native California plants is that many of them are a particular variety of a plant found in many parts of the world.
Beautiful******
