Blue skies over blue pond - Morgan Territory Regional Preserve June 27, 2018
Gorgeous blue sky day at Morgan Territory Regional Preserve yesterday. My younger son is home from his first year at college and is a budding nature enthusiast so we have been hiking as many times a week as we can. Morgan Territory Regional Park is our most frequent destination. The park was originally a ranch founded by Jeremiah Morgan in 1857. I guess originally it was the territory of the Volvon Native American tribe but was largely depopulated after the Spanish came into the area in 1772. Between diseases and the establishment of missions, the Native American population was decimated. The park is 4,708 acres so there is a lot to explore.
I love the way this frog blends into the texture and pattern of the rock.
I struggle to capture dragonfly pictures because I lack a good telephoto lens but this one posed for me. There are many brightly colored dragonflies but I like this ones delicate translucent wings.
We also saw many fish in the pond, lizards on the rocks, spiders of all shapes and sizes, plus the garter snake that I already posted.
And of course wildflowers :) I haven't done the research on this one yet but it is one I haven't previously photo'd.

Beautiful blue skies @steven-patrick and how lovely to have our son hiking with you.
My son is also home at the moment but it is an uphill battle to get him to even walk along the seafront with me to get a coffee. 😂
I couldn't even tempt him with a nice pub lunch. He seems to prefer lolling around the house and chatting to me from anywhere he can gt himself horizontal.
It comes and goes. That was my son last summer. Gotta go with it when he's interested :)
Yeah. It is as it is @steven-patrick. At least he wants to hang out with me and chat. That's a plus! 😁
These are quite beautiful without a name. Perhaps more fun to leave it up to our imagination
Great post and sounds like a little „Adventure Expedition“ 😜 well done!
Yes it was a good adventure and only 30 minutes from home.
Awesome Work!

Yes it is really fun to see him get excited about nature. And to spend time with him.
Excellent photos ...
That frog blended in so good I never knew it was a frog at first glance. I was scrolling down thinking what the heck is this .. and boom it jumped out at me ..... a frog.

I always like images of small animals or insects because they are too moving, and the photos allow us to consider them in more detail. You have a beautiful reserve. The photo of this lake looks great! @steven-patrick, thanks for your story :)
Thanks for visiting. I especially liked the frog. He looks perfect on that rock. Nature can be beautiful in ways you don't expect.
