Worried about my cherry tree! Resin, a symptom of stress. [EN-IT]

in #nature7 years ago

Today, cutting the hedge, I have noticed this problem, a branch of my cherry tree has a large amount of resin. Knowing that this isn't a good symptom, I did a research on the causes.

What I have found is an infinite list of factors that may have caused stress on the plant. Among the main ones, we find little water, poor nutrient soil, little illumination, bad pruning cuts, parasites and many more. I don't know what the resin can determine in my cherry tree, the left side where it is presented is somewhat choked by the medlar tree, but it is exposed to the sun from the morning until afternoon, could it be dehydration? This arid summer has put all the plants to the test, but I can't rule out pests or bad pruning that would be a bit more serious.

I know that among the Steemit community there are many experienced growers, what do you think? From the photos you can understand something more? Thank you all.

Grazie a tutti.

Interesting, I didn't know.

Thanks :)

hope the plant recovers. There are specialists that can be described as plant doctors that might be more familiar with the problem in your area. Perhaps its a widespread phenomenon or maybe its just your tree.
Get well soon cherry tree!

I hope so, because this is a special variety that is only in this area of Italy.

Is that what it is? Resin is a sign of stress? I didn't know that. I found many trees (not cherries) produce those. I always liked touching it, but never really knew or curious enough to check what it was etc.

I am a gardener but veggies mostly. We don't have big trees at all in the garden, so can't help there, sorry.

I hope your tree is okay tho!

How is it producing this year btw?

I have two more cherry trees and they have done a lot of fruits, instead this has made us few and ugly. I don't think it is a symptom of stress for all plants, but for fruit trees yes.

Something new I learned today

Thanks for sharing. I do hope it will be okay for the tree(s)
