In Africa have found signs of fast global disaster

The geological processes happening in the East African rift valley can lead to catastrophic consequences in the near future. In this region the continent slowly breaks up into two parts, forming the cracks and breaks menacing to transport and city infrastructure reports the Indy100 edition.

As scientists predict, east part of Africa will finally separate from the continent through 3-4 million years. The deformation of crust connected with this process has led to emergence of a geological fault — the Great rift valley which was stretched approximately on six thousand kilometers from Lebanon to Mozambique and also the Red Sea. Speed with which two plates (Nubian and Somali) depart from each other is 6-7 millimeters a year. In the future this place will be flooded, and Kenya will turn into the island.

According to the geologist David Adede though рифт long time I remained tectonic inactive, in crust there can be small movements leading to emergence on a surface of zones with a large number of cracks. At the same time plentiful rains worsen a situation, promoting emergence of other roughnesses. So, on March 19 the large break has crossed Kenyan Mai-Mahiu Narok Road which had to be repaired urgently, however this temporary measure won't save it from destruction.

In the future the situation will only be aggravated, the scientist has warned. As a result in the region natural disasters, life-endangering people will burst. Therefore it is necessary to make the map of lines of breaks to predict formation of new cracks and to consider it at construction of new buildings and engineering constructions.
