Hikeadelic Images. Ridge Walking.
Went on another nature hike up in the Franklin Mountains. I'm still sore from the adventure, got a ton of elevation, about 600 ft.
I went with my roommate this time, luckily we had 3 joints because this trek was a beast.
There is a trail that I love jogging down at the end of a climb, it is casual but still keeps your mind fresh. This time we started on this trail. Its much easier to jog down trails than to jog up them but we tried haha.
We got to the top of this particular trail and took our first smoke break. The marijuana relaxes your muscles and gives you a focus that I really enjoy out in nature. After the first joint we looked up and said "lets walk that ridge".
So we went off trail and trekked up this new mountain. It was pretty hectic, wild plants all waiting to stab you, hidden snake dens and spider webs. Slowly but surley we got to the ridge and all of a sudden we were in the danger zone.
100 ft drops on either side, up and down the ridge line. Even some desert vultures were interested in our hike, swooping down insanely close, hoping for one of us to fall haha. We had to find some flat ground to throw rocks at these birds, so we took a few steps off the ridge. Death drops in front of us, vultures above us, and vertigo.
The vultures eventually fucked off and we continued but the drops kept getting taller and taller and the ridge narrower and narrower. We hit a dead end, no way down. So we turned around and had to crab walk back down this steep narrow ridge line. Once we made it to safety we smoked another joint.
Grateful for the adventute and thrill the marijuana calmed me down and the slight vertigo went away. Hiking back down was a blast, so stoned it felt like floating haha.
We got back to the original trail and jogged down. Another Desert Trek in the books.
Hope you enjoyed the words and these pics. Infinite Lovewaves.
