Boats in the Port of Gothenburg

Klippans Bruksbåtsförening is a veteran boat association at Klippan Ångbåtsbrygga, Klippans Kulturreservat in Gothenburg. The association cares for the environment and maintains traditions around boat and sea at the oldest preserved piers in Gothenburg's harbor.

The cliff harbor was busy several hundred years before the founding of Gothenburg. The central trading venue
developed where the river mouth was founded was protected early by Älvsborg's (old) fortress and was later elected to the East India Company's cargo place in Gothenburg. At the beginning of the 1960s, Klippan is mainly a place for pilots (in the current Sjömagasinet) and towers. The steamboat jetty houses smaller utility boats and recreational boats.

Klippans Bruksbåtsförening today manages the last remnants of the once lively environment that was the foundation of Gothenburg's growth. Today, a project is underway to explain the memorial to the steamboat bridge, in order to document the importance of the site as a cultural heritage.

The purpose of the association is to preserve utility boats and boat culture. We manage the steamboat jetty in Klippan, where veterans and replicas such as Viking ships, fishing and yarn boats, rescue cruisers, cutters and yachts are at the quay.

Klippans Bruksbåtsförening är en veteranbåtsförening vid Klippan Ångbåtsbrygga, Klippans Kulturreservat i Göteborg. Föreningen vårdar miljön och upprätthåller traditioner kring båt och hav vid de äldsta bevarade bryggorna i Göteborgs hamn.

Klippanhamnen var livligt trafikerad flera hundra år före Göteborgs grundande. Den centrala handelsplats som utvecklats där älvmynningen grundade upp skyddades tidigt av Älvsborgs (gamla) fästning och valdes senare till Ostindiska kompaniets lastplats i Göteborg. Vid början av 60-talet är Klippan huvudsakligen plats för lotsar (i nuvarande Sjömagasinet) och bogserare. Ångbåtsbryggan härbärgerar mindre bruksbåtar och fritidsbåtar.

Klippans Bruksbåtsförening förvaltar i dag de sista resterna av den en gång så livliga miljön som var grunden till Göteborgs framväxt. I dag pågår ett projekt om att byggnadsminnesmärkesförklara Ångbåtsbryggan, för att dokumentera platsens betydelse som kulturarv.

Föreningens syfte är att bevara bruksbåtar och båtkultur. Vi förvaltar Ångbåtsbryggan i Klippan, där veteraner och replikor som vikingaskepp, fiske- och garnbåtar, räddningskryssare, kutter och jakter ligger vid kaj.
