World largest underwater cave has been found near the city of Tulum, on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. This discovery actually found out the connection between two already known most extensive flooded cavern system - Sac Actun and Dos Ojos, which are now forms world's largest flooded cave, at over 347 kilometers or 216 miles.

And this largest flooded cave might help in solving some of the mysteries of ancient Maya civilisation.

The credit of this discovery should be given to Gran Acuifero Maya, a project that studies and preserves subterranean water system in Yucatan.
