Raising Tadpoles (Day 29) - New Hope
Day 29
There's been an interesting development with the two disabled tadpoles. Despite one seemingly being paralyzed on one side for some time, it's begun to swim fairly straight - although the tail is still a bit crooked, I'll be waiting until the froglet stage most likely before I make a final decision on what to do with this one. As for the other malformed tadpole, that I've previously referred to as "Squiggly" for brevity, it's still quite misshapen, though it seems to now be at more of a right angle than the previous "U" shape.
Unlike the other tadpole, Squiggly still cannot swim straight, merely in large circles while mostly upside down (still an improvement over the tiny circles with no controlled direction). Squiggly is still the slightly smaller of the two but both have been stunted to the point that they're each around two weeks behind all of the other tadpoles in terms of development (they're entire bodies are smaller than the heads of some of the largest tadpoles). At this point I feel it's most appropriate to wait to see if they make it to the froglet stage before making any final decisions. They're definitely fighters, that's for sure!
While everything seems to be going well with the tadpoles, my main tank seems to be encountering issue after issue, though thankfully nothing that can't be handled. After making room, the new piece of aquarium decor finally arrive - only for me to find the thing's as rough as sandpaper and has points that can leave marks in a person's hand just by holding it. I've already given it a round of filing, however, at least one more round will be needed before moving on to the sandpaper. I was concerned that I'd need to find some aquarium safe paint to make it presentable, however, the new bits of white actually look fine as is for the time being (makes it look a bit like the decor was dry brushed).
Nice read. I leave an upvote for this article thumbsup

Very much so! They'll look absolutely alien in two weeks.
