The Water hyacinth plant voracious in nature. Eichhornia crassipes is a very rapidly growing plant in waters and can double its mass in about six to ten days and quickly covers these water bodies with its green camouflage.

The plant indeed has beautiful and appealing flowers but the reproduction is so rapid that the its beauty distracts while the plant is busy reducing water bodies, narrow down water pathways thus hindering navigation, fishing as well as loss of aquatic life with examples being of ; the estuary of river Wouri in Cameroon, Lake Victoria in Kenya, several rivers and ponds, etc.

However, this invasive plant grows rapidly thus stopping or reducing the amount of sunlight, Oxygen required by aquatic animals for their survival but nonetheless it can still be used in different ways to produce Eco-friendly products.

• The plant is also used in the human hair to form dread locks, and can also be used as animal feed. As such this plant should should be taken out and used to produce these Eco-friendly products, thus the rescue mission for our waters as well as aquatic life in this ecosystem.
