Wednesday Walk Delayed by Cows - A Good Thing For It Made For a Magical Evening Walk...
We were just getting ready to head out for our late afternoon walk when our neighbor called to say he was moving his cows closer to home. He warned us that we may want to stand at the turn off for our driveway so the cows don't come down that way and get into the garden. We were happy to go watch the cattle drive from our lane way and as it turned out, it was quite a neighborhood gathering with everyone at the top of their lanes!

Our neighbor got all his cows safely into their pasture closer to home and we set out for our walk. By this time the sun was starting to set and some rain clouds had moved in making for a beautiful sky!

It started to rain a bit and we almost turned around and headed home but I'm sure glad we didn't for just then a rainbow appeared in the sky setting the stage for more spectacular displays from Mother Nature!

The neighbor's horses had come to the gate to see what was going on and were perfectly framed with the rainbow!

And that was sure what we were experiencing this evening as the color displays kept coming!

The sun was fast setting but I couldn't stop enjoying and capturing the beautiful display in the sky

It was getting dark but I managed to capture one last display from the setting sun.

Finally darkness pushed me inside but not before one last shot - the last of the pink tinge in the clouds,

In some of the rural area where cows wandering along the road with cars moving is a common sight over here. Love the rainbow scene!
Those rainbow shots were stunning! Imagine a rainbow like foliage colors!
We move cows along the road here, but it's too open to be sure they will stay on the road. So we string temporary electric fencing (not powered, but they don't know that) the entire way. The longest run is 3/4 mile. Much easier than chasing cows all over town. It crosses the road twice on that run, so we must stop traffic for about 10 mins.
Also loved the sky's transition to dark series!
Ah, I didn't realise you were in SK! I have family in Spiritwood. Seems like three lifetimes ago since I've seen them though.
I'm almost a little dissapointed you didn't get a 'moooo' pun in the post anywhere. :) Remember, to err is human, but to moo, bovine.
Lovely pics of the evening coming. Raised stick to cow-calf? :( So unnecessary. They need some education and a well trained cattle dog. Nothing nicer than an evening walk hey? Cows loose on roads and verges are normal in Asia and everyone gets long just fine.

The shots of the sky are amazing...that's really nature. I really don't have other words...hah..
And it's going to be a big thing for everyone in my area if a bunch of cows walk past like that! Maybe we'll hear a lot of screams and whatnot, imagine kids that just saw them for the first time rushing over to have a closer look while parents chasing from behind, lol.

What a lovely post, @porters, and what a beautiful place you live. I got a kick out of the mischievous calf, and I really loved the picture of the horses with the rainbow overhead!
@porters The colors of the sky are beautiful, here in my country Venezuela there are beautiful sunsets as well and in the area where we live there are many cows too, in our case we see of followed some cows and certainly they have priority when passing, we always have to wait, they take all the way jaja.
It is beautiful the contact with the nature.
