Growing up in Croatia relatively often I had the opportunity to see this bug.
Yesterday in the evening walk I met her again after a long time, fortunately I had a camera with me.
It was a great opportunity to try out night shooting with samsung s8+

Sexual cannibalism is a term that describes this extremely bizarre feature of this bug. During mating, the female Mantis religiosa begins to eat her partner with her head, and his body still pairs with her! The male of that kind must die, and to make ejaculation successful, his head literally must fall.
I find this bug very interesting and fascinating.
