Marchfeld Kanal And Its Surroundings - A Real Paradise For Nature Lover
THE MARCHFELD KANAL
It actually runs through the border between the city of Vienna and Lower Austria. It´s an artificially constructed canal which takes its water from the Danube River and supplies them to the vegetable growers between the two bordering lands. It´s an 18 Kilometer recreational area too, where the folks enjoy the biking pathway that is parallel to the water flow. Other sports like canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, football, Nordic walking as well as jogging are the sports one can enjoy here. The kids have have their own playground as well as the dogs enjoy a separate area where they can play with other dogs too.
Although artificially made, this canal has become the home of many birds... Flora and fauna are in abundance and every individual who loves nature can have a peaceful green region and the serenity that nature can offer...be it observing the birds, the swans and other animals, one can just sit on the many benches provided for the purpose or simply relax or take a walk or two.
The trees and bushes are still bare but since Spring is now here, they will slowly wake-up from its sleep and will soon be all green! A walk with Lily in a long pathway is always good for her since she is so chubby for her size and race. And we too humans... also need to take a bit of actions ourselves.
The best time to get involved in recreational activities is around Spring when everything starts to be green again and early Summer when the heat is still bearable.
In Summer, the green in the area is overpowering, sometimes the dears and rabbits come out from their hiding and would brave the middle of the fields.
These images were taken the past Springs and Summers and you´ll notice in the images how nice all the fields were. So it´s a paradise for nature lovers as well as those families who live nearby. We have the Danube River though which is the real paradise for nature lovers.
Lily is afraid of the water, she didn´t have any experience how to get along with it since she was the city dog of my 90 year-old mom in-law. When she passed , we got Lily and take her anywhere we go.
This is our secret area where people seldom visit and it´s hidden from the biker´s path... Lily loves it here and so do we... I for one, because there are so many wildflowers to be picked and so many wild berries (non edible) that would compliment my flower arrangements.
Beautiful area.... wish to be able to see it too. As an artist, I would have so many thoughts and views that I can use for my artworks especially painting. Indeed, an excellent place for recreations. Thanks for sharing.
I just wish we can all protect not just admire mother nature such great wonders to behold! Its really a fact that compare to other places especially European countries they certainly make sure that they have protected their environment, we should look at them as model in preserving our own beauty in nature! Thank you and more power!
