Autumn is coming...

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Prašnik is a unique secondary forest of old Slavonian oak trees near Okučani, Croatia. It is considered as a rainforest because it has never been managed with. Because of its position during the Homeland War, the rainforest was mined and by 2015 it was unavailable to visitors.

Today it is a special forest vegetation reserve that has about 1000 old oak tree trees and about 150 common beech and beech trees. The oak trees are aged between 250 and 300 years and older and the height of some of them is even greater than 40 m.

I took these photos in autumn two years ago, and the beauty of untouched nature took my breath away.
