Read through the text below and pick the correct bird. The included photo may give you a good clue as well.




Markings : Glossy black with a brown head; stubby finchlike bill; female - all grey
Habitat : Farms, fields, lawns and roadsides; wooded edges and clearings; villages and city parks.
Seasons : All year; in n. portions chiefly in spring, summer and fall; in s.e. portions in fall, winter and spring
Range : S. Canada to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico; breeds south to coastal South Carolina and Georgia, but NOT Florida; winters north to s. Great Lakes, c. New England and s. Nova Scotia.
Note : Parasitic - does not build nests of its own but lays its eggs in the nests of other birds.
