These bushes grow in deciduous woods. They covered the woods as far as the eye could see in parts of Wertheim Nat. Wildlife Refuge. They must attract many kinds of birds.
It always attracts attention to see trees or plants bloom within a nature that looks dry and somewhat sleepy; well, I can see it more or less in the photo. Maybe it has to do with its characteristic of requiring a soil with a pH must be very acidic (4.5 to 5.5).
