HEY YOU, TAKE A HIKE...........if you please

Here is an opportunity to take a visible stroll through a wooded Salt Marsh of Long Island, N.Y.'s North Shore.

This is over a 100 acre preserve managed by the Nature Conservancy.

I saw this sign and decided to check it out. There was only enough room for 2 possibly 3 cars to park.

After waking a short way there was another sign giving me a choice in the path.

I chose the West Loop, figuring the sun would't be in my eyes. So lets begin.

Shortly in I spied this big old house through the trees. I believe It is the house of the people that donated the 100 acres.

Here we see some open water in the salt marsh.

The trail was well kept. There were a lot of fallen trees that were carefully removed in an aesthetic way. Here we pass over a newly built bridge. You could even smell the pleasant aroma of the wood.

I then see another man made building. This time a Monster. The old defunct Shoreham Nuclear power plant.

This oak tree has a diameter of about 3 feet / 9 to 10 feet circumference.

Now we get into some large trees.

Around this large sprawling Spruce tree a very large boulder appears. The only stone that I have encountered on my walk. These stones were left by the receding Glacier, that created Long Island more than 10,000 years ago.

Time to head back from the loop. Here is were the trail is unclear and I FEEL A LITTLE LOST.MOMMY! Not to worry I figured it out.

SWAMP...... Watch your step.

Posting this was almost like taking second hike. PS I didn't come home empty handed. A lone star Tick got a bite of me.
