FEATHER DANCE //

Driving south on my street I stopped to take in some Wild Turkeys doing their feather dance.

The male Wild Turkey (meleagris gallopavo) spread their wings and use gobbling/drumming/booming and spitting for social dominance and female attracting.

Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the Turkey the United States National symbol. Maybe one of the reasons was the Turkey's ability of displaying the colors red, blue and white on their heads. The colors can change according to their moods. White showing the most excitement.

The Feather or Fan Dance can cross into different species and sex. Great example is the burlesque style fan dance where usually a female would dance naked with one or two feathered fans usually made from Ostrich feathers.

Watch If you like your fan dance on a large scale.
