CORMORANT DISPLAY
A Cormorant spreading its wings and looking to be standing on water. It's really standing on a submerged tree stump.
They hold their wings wide open for minutes on end to dry them. Since they dive underwater for fish at depths of 24 feet or more the wings take on a bit of water.
There are over 40 species of Cormorants and Shags. The most common being the Double-crested Cormorant. They are found in fresh water and sea water areas.
They catch fish with their serrated hooked bills. A med. to large bird with a wing span of 45-100 cm / 18-39 inches.
They like to hangout together in colonies on trees and cliffs.

Awesome captures Mike, the feeling I get when watching cormorants bask like that in the sun is indescribable. The best word I have is Peace, but that just doesn't cut it at all!!
They remind me of shy cats. When you get to close they dive or fly away.
BEAUTY !
Thanks @voronchihin
Those look alot like Herron we hunt in the South.
The water is so calm that it looks like glass. Nice shots.
