A trip to Bidstrup wood

Denmark is not one of those countries with spectacular and aweinspiring nature, like Switzerland, Brazil or Norway... On the other hand, within its scope it is surprisingly diverse within even very short distances. And if you look carefully, you can find charming little oasis’ and sights

One such hidden away spot is Bidstrup woods in the northern part of the middle of the island Sjælland about 50 mins drive from Copenhagen. It is placed rather remote and you need to follow the parhs closely to make sure you find it. It does have parking space and good paths within the woods with maps and all.

Fishing is “allowed” in certain spots in the biggest lake there ( with a valid fishing card). A selection of fresh water fish like Aborre and Pike can be caught. There are places to grill over fire, benches.

The charm of this wood is that the terrain is rather curved so that there are bogs and lakes that creates open areas within it and a gret diversity in types of trees and plants. The are good amounts of mushrooms (at this time) but look out for the poisoned ones.

It is a perfect place to bring your kids... and your camera (all photos shown was taken by me with my iPhone 6)
