Water ribbons

The hard lava forms an impervious layer so the water has to go over it.

This lava also spalls to form rounded surfaced rather than spalling in blocks.

The result is therefore not tradition waterfalls but water flowing over smoothed rocks.

    hello there @mandela ! those two pictures are very nice and permit to understand well the erosion principle which I really like, as well as seeing time at geological scale, allow us to take more distance about little problems of everyday life !

    wonderful images @mandela. i have seen a lot quality posts from you but this one is just tremendous. i have never seen such terrific view before. nice photography too. keep up the good work.
