Zugspitze - the highest mountain (Germany)
Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany. On its slopes are the largest glaciers in the country. Also here is the location of the high-altitude karst plateau of Zugspitzplatte, known for its huge number of caves. Zugspitze enters the mountain Alpine massif system at the southern border of Germany, it has three peaks, the highest of which is the western one, and its highest point is more than 2960 meters in height.
The name of the mountain, if you follow the exact translation, means the head of the train. And, really, if you look closely, you can see in Zugspitze some outlines of a train with a pipe. This is the only country in the country where you can go in for skiing all year round, which is one of the components of the high popularity of this part of Germany.
