Tasmania was the largest part of the last 100,000 years connected with the Australian mainland. As a result, it was likely to be quite rapidly populated after the arrival of the first people in Australia. The oldest Australians could have arrived in Australia 60,000 years ago. Tasmanians looked like black Africans. They were quite large: the men were on average 1.63 to 1.70 meters, but some were up to 2 meters long.
